 Msit No'kmaq ~ Historical Meeting April 18, 2012

An important historical private meeting was held with Director of Indian Affairs officials Mr. Ian Gray and Dr. Mark Davis us in Point Aconi ~ Bras d'or Indian Village Band Assoc. Wed. April 18th at 10am.

All thirteen people who were asked to attend this important meeting were present one a card holding member of Qalipu First Nation, when the Indian Affairs officials arrived with the Canadian Gov. logo on the door.

A blessing was performed by our First Nation Nitap Vaughan Doucett. This historic meeting was accomplished by our hard work and persistence on behalf of all descendants.

We discussed all our concerns in regard to recognition here in Little Bras d'or and gained great advice and where to go from here. We fully intent act on this advice and to follow through ~ We are very pleased with the sound advice we were given at our very positive and productive meeting.

Sacred Pipe Ceremony & Unveiling of Commemorative Plaque Sept. 8 , 2012

Bras D'or Indian Village Band Association, Little Bras D'or welcomes you to join us on Sept. 8, 2012 to celebrate with us 2 historical events in Little Bras D'or.

A Sacred Pipe Ceremony (Prayers) to honor our ancestors and history. Performed by Traditional Pipe carriers Clark Bernard Paul & Vince Marshall. After the sacred pipe commences we will gather at the Bras D'or Elementary School to unveil a Commemorative Plaque.

Traditional Mi'kmaq song & drum performed by Talented Vaughan Doucette all of Eskasoni First Nation.

Our friend song writer, performer Mrs. Elizabeth Deveau Ministries will perform her beautiful song 'Unity'.

Protocol For Sacred Pipe:

 Traditional Respect- Women are asked to wear a long skirt during Sacred Pipe Ceremony 
2. Bring your own lawn chair
3. Parking available in near by field
4. We will leave no footprint on the pristine campground
5. Please be on time.
